Tapene resulterer i en standardisering og nøytralisering av teksten på målspråket, noe som fører til en fortapelse av nyansene i språket som er informasjonsgivende med tanke på karakterene og den kommunikative situasjonen. Som følge av dette, kan publikum motta et mer overfladisk meningsinnhold, altså en redusert versjon av intensjonen samt implikasjonene bak ytringene.
