Antall ord: 7959 In this thesis, I ask the following question: What makes a frame iconic? Throughout this thesis, I explore topics such as the use of stills from films in our culture, find out what it means to be iconic, and also analyses three legendary frames from these three unique films: The Shawshank Redemption (Darabont, 1995), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Spielberg, 1982), and The Shining (Kubrick, 1980). In a comparative analysis, I compare three chosen frames from these films to find out if there is a clear connection regarding their iconic status, and then look to historical photographs to see any similar parallels.
