dc.description.abstract | Denne oppgaven undersøker hvilke funksjoner kompilert populærmusikk har i tre filmer laget
av den amerikanske filmskaperen Wes Anderson. Dette vil belyses gjennom oppgavens tre
case-studier av henholdsvis Rushmore (1998), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) og The Life
Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004).
dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines the use of compilation scores and popular music in three films made by
the American filmmaker Wes Anderson. Since his film debut in the 1990s, Anderson has
become known for his use of compilation scores containing pre-existing popular music that
mostly has its origin in the period between the 1960s and the 1970s. This will be explored as a
part of the thesis’ main case studies, concentrating on the use of compiled popular music in
Rushmore (1998), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
(2004) respectively. The case studies will especially focus on how the pre-existing popular
music relates to Andersons idiosyncratic film worlds.
