Sammendrag
Circular cylinder is of vital importance in the marine industry. The goal of this thesis is to studythe physical phenomenon around the inclined circular cylinder as well as the forces acting onit. The study is mainly divided into three parts. The first part is used to perform 2D circularcylinder simulation. The purpose of part one is to find a series of proper parameters and provethe independence of grid in two-dimensional plane. The second part is 3D simulation of verticalcircular cylinder at Re = 300 and 500. The 3D mesh is obtained by extruding the 2D mesh intodifferent span-wise height. Results are discussed in terms of force coefficients and physicalquantity plots. The effects of cylinder height and different boundary conditions on top andbottom boundary are compared and studied. The third part mainly focuses on the simulationof inclined cylinder with different inclination angle which changes from 0± to 30±. The physicsphenomenon around inclined cylinder has been studied and the principle of the forces variationpattern with different inclination angle and different Re number has also been summarized.
