En kvalitativ undersøkelse av anleggsbransjens forhold til XR teknologi

Abstract

Digitalisering er i sterk vekst i BAE-bransjen, og med digitaliseringen kommer ny teknologi. Vi har i denne oppgaven hatt som mål å utforske BAE-bransjens forhold til XR teknologi. Med fokus på hva som skal til for å implementere teknologien på en større skala og hva som står i veien for det. For å finne ut av dette har vi gjennomført en runde med semikonstruerte intervjuer med nøkkelpersoner i bransjen som har god kjentskap til teknologien, og hvilke bruksområder den kan ha på byggeplassen. For å presisere hva vi ville finne ut av satte vi opp tre forskningsspørsmål. Disse er: «Hvilke fordeler kan XR gi i BAE-bransjen?», «Hvilke aktører på byggeplassen benytter seg av XR og hvem kan få bruk for det?», og «Hvilke utfordringer erfarer intervjuobjektene ved implementering av XR?». I denne oppgaven konkluderer vi at XR teknologi har stort potensiale i BAE-bransjen, men at det er noen store faktorer som gjør det vanskelig å implementere på stor skala. Vi utreder hva disse faktorene er og hva intervjuobjektene mener er mulighetene til teknologien.

Digitalization is a growing subject in the AEC-industry and with it comes new technology. The purpose of this paper is to explore the AEC-industry’s relationship to XR technology, with a focus on what is needed to implement the technology at a larger scale and what the current problems with the technology are. As well as exploring the possible usecases for XR technology in the AEC-industry. In this paper we set up Three research questions, “What are the advantages with using XR technology in the AEC-industry”, “Which personnel at the construction site are using XR technology and who could use it”, and “Which barriers are in the way of implementing XR in the AEC-industry”. To answer these questions, we performed a round of semi-constructed interviews of key personnel in the AEC-industry with good knowledge of XR technology and its usecases at a construction site. In this paper we concluded that XR technology has a great potential in the AEC-industry but that there are some barriers that needs to be overcome before it can be implemented at a large scale. We investigate what these barriers are and what the interviewee’s think the possibilities of the technology are.
