Likestilling i samfunnsfag En kvalitativ innholdsanalyse av Monitor 2

Abstract

I denne bacheloroppgaven har jeg valgt en kvalitativ innholdsanalyse for å undersøke hvordan likestilling kommer frem i samfunnsfagboka Monitor 2. Jeg har valgt å ta utgangspunkt i ett kapittel, hvor jeg analyserer innholdet og ser om skolens likestillingsmandat kommer til syne i det aktuelle kapittelet.

Jeg har valgt å utføre en lærebokanalyse, da læreboka fremdeles er det mest brukte verktøyet for informasjon i dagens skole. Med utgangspunkt i læreboka og sentrale styringsdokumenter for skolen har jeg gjort ei vurdering hvorvidt lærebokverket har gjort rede for likestilling på en tilfredsstillende måte. Etter å ha analysert kapittelet, har det vist seg at læreboka ikke tar for seg begrepet «likestilling» i særlig grad. Det nærmeste boka viser til er et historisk tilbakeblikk for hvordan unge jenters stilling var på 17- og 1800-tallet. I denne bacheloroppgaven har jeg sett på dette og gjort ei vurdering på hvordan dette påvirker likestillingsmandatet skolen skal være med å fremme gjennom elevenes skolegang og læring.

In this study, I have chosen a qualitative content analysis as a method to investigate how gender equality is treated in the social science textbook, Monitor 2. I have chosen one chapter in the book and will analyse its content in accordance with the schools mandate of gender equality.

I have chosen to do an analysis of a textbook in social studies, because the textbook is the most common used tool by teachers when they teach pupils in today’s school system. With a starting point in the textbook and the most central points of direction from the school government, I have been evaluating whether the textbook presents the question of gender equality in a suitable way.

After my research and analysis of my chosen chapter, I have found that the textbook is not dealing with the subject in a satisfying way. The closest we get to this, is a historical retrospect of the way of life for girls in the 16th and 17th centuries. In my study I have been looking upon and given my consideration on how these questions have affected the mandate of gender equality that the school system is supposed to give to the pupils through their years in the Norwegian school system.
