Bygd og by, to ulike skolekulturer?

Abstract

«Bygd og By, to ulike skolekulturer?» er en oppgave som omhandler en sammenligning av by og bygd i Norge hva gjelder påvirkningsfaktorer for de valgene de gjør etter ungdomsskolen. Problemstillingen er som følger, «Kan det være forskjeller på by og bygd med tanke på retningsvalg etter ungdomsskolen og hvilke årsaker kan ligge til grunn for dette?» Det blir først sett på om det kan være en forskjell, før oppgaven går nærmere inn på hvilke årsaker som kan ligge til grunn for de valgene som blir tatt. Det er brukt semistrukturerte, kvalitative intervju med intervjuguide av to 10.klassinger i by og to i bygd, der det er en av hvert kjønn for de to geografiske feltene. Det kan se ut til at det er en forskjell, der byelevene skal ta studiespesialisering og bygdeelevene skal ta yrkesfag, men det kan også se ut til at flere jenter på bygda er mer rettet mot studiespesialiserende. De mulige årsakene til de forskjellene blir diskutert med forankring i ulike motivasjonsteorier og Bourdieu sine teorier om habitus og reprodusering.

«District and city, two different cultures of schooling?» is a bachelor thesis where I ́m doing a comparison of cities and district in Norway with regard to influencing factors for the choices they make after secondary school. The research question is as follow, «What differences could it be between city and district kids in regard to the choices they make after secondary school, and what causes may be the behind these choices?» First I will be adressing the question about if the differences are there, before the next focus will be what underlying causes there may be for the choices the kids make. I have used semistructured, qualitative interviews with an interviewguide of two 10.graders from a city school and two 10.graders from a district school, where there is one of each sex represented from each geographic field. The findings is that is looks like there is a difference, where the city kids are going for higher education and the district kids are going for lower education, but with a twist, which is that more girls than not in the district are going for higher education. The possible causes for these differences are being discussed in light of different theories of motivation and Bourdieu ́s theories about habitus and reproduction.
