Undervisningsmetoder i matematikkfaget og deres påvirkning av læringsmiljøet

Abstract

Formålet med denne oppgaven er å gi et bilde av ulike undervisningsmetoder i matematikkfaget og deres påvirkning av læringsmiljøet i klasserommet. Undersøkelsen hadde en kvalitativ tilnærming hvor jeg observerte totalt fem undervisningstimer i en klasse på 4.trinn. Det innsamlede materialet ble analysert ut ifra følgende problemstilling: « Hvordan kan ulike undervisningsmetoder i matematikkfaget påvirke læringsmiljøet i klasserommet?» De to undervisningsmetodene jeg har fokusert på er «tradisjonell undervisningsmetode» og «praktiske og utforskende undervisningsmetode». Basert på teori rundt disse og observasjoner og implementering har de samlede dataene illustrert en oversikt over effektene. Det kommer tydelig frem at valgt undervisningsmetode er viktig for klassens læringsmiljø, dynamikk og enkeltelevers motivasjon. Videre gir teksten et innblikk i en klasses reaksjoner på undervisningsmetodene. En endelig konkusjon er utfordrende da metodene er testet hos en og samme klasse. Derfor kan det resonneres at undervisningsmetodene i den utvalgte klassen har mye å si for læringsmiljøet om du som lærer ønsker å møte alle elevenes behov.

The purpose of this assignment is to illustrate different teaching methods in the subject of mathematics and their influence on the learning environment in the classroom. The survey had a qualitative approach where I observed a total of five lessons in a class in 4th grade. The material collected was analysed based on the following issue: «How can different teaching methods in the subject of mathematics affect the learning environment in the classroom?» The two teaching methods I have focused on are the “traditional teaching method” and the “practical and exploratory teaching method”. Based on the theory of these and observations and implementation, the data collected illustrates an overview of the effects. It is obvious that the chosen teaching method is important for the class´ learning environment, dynamics and motivation amongst the individual pupil. Furthermore, the text gives an insight into the reactions of a class to the teaching methods. A final conclusion is challenging as the methods have been tested in one individual class. In view of this, it is arguable that the teaching methods of the selected class have a lot to say for the learning environment if you as a teacher want to meet all of the students´ educational needs.
