Abstract
This thesis will consider the modeling of a fixed bed multi tube reactor - in a numerical perspective. To do this, the adaptive boundary value solver BVP5c is investigated as a possible contribution to the modeling picture. BVP5c uses collocation to solve a user specified boundary value problem, controlling the residual and step size to provide a robust solution procedure. In chapter 2 BVP5c is used to solve a 1-dimensional dispersion model, then in chapter 3 the problem is extended to two dimensions. To extend the model, a directional differencing scheme is implemented to represent the radial derivatives since BVP5c solves only for one direction.
