A Method for Evaluation of Navigation in Tree Structures
Abstract
The goal of this report is to arrive at a solution for an evaluation method enabling comparisons between techniques and implementation technologies for the visualization and navigation of large tree structures. Deriving an evaluation metric for such a task requires knowledge of the characteristics of available visualization techniques. The report gives an overview of this field and the sparse research that is already done on evaluation and benchmarking, and continues to propose an evaluation metric for measuring the effectiveness of navigation in a tree structure.
