The long-term maintenance of a reduced body weight remains the main challenge in obesity management, with only a small group being successful after conservative treatment (1). Physiological adaptations, such as increased hunger and reduced energy expenditure, are activated with weight loss and are likely to be involved in relapse (2). Patients with obesity need continued support in order to overcome the above-mentioned mechanisms and succeed in the long-term.
