Development, Building and Competing with a New Car in Shell Eco-marathon

Abstract

This Master s thesis is the continuation of the project thesis by Carlsen and Oma (2016). It describes the work that has been done in order to participate with a new car in Shell Eco-marathon in May of 2017.

A new UrbanConcept vehicle has been developed with the goal of a top 3 place in the Battery Electric category. The vehicle was made as a base for later teams to improve, and the thesis includes advises for next year. The thesis describes the development and production of the major mechanical subsystems of the car. It also contains non-technical aspects of the project, such as project management. Unfortunately, the ambitions of the team proved to be too high and the vehicle ended up without a valid result.
