Korpsdirigenten og samspill

Abstract

Masteroppgaven Korpsdirigenten og samspill har til hensikt å undersøke hvilke aspekter som kjennetegner to korpsdirigenters tilnærming til det å lede samspill. Oppgavens empiri er generert gjennom intervju med to korpsdirigenter. Studiens teoretiske bakgrunn tangerer ledelse, kommunikasjon, samspill, relasjoner og didaktikk. Basert på en kvalitativ studie blir det diskutert hvilke aspekter korpsdirigentene er viktige for deres ledelse av samspill. Kapittel 2 handler om studiens kontekst og er en redegjørelse av musikkorps i Norge. Her blir det redegjort for musikkorpsenes historie og begreper, og det blir redegjort for musikkorpsenes største interesseorganisasjon for musikkorps i Norge, Norges Musikkorps Forbund, med tanke på opplæring av instruktører og dirigenter. Litteraturen som er hentet fra Norges Musikkorps Forbund vil bli presentert i kapittel 2 og den vil også bli brukt gjennom oppgaven. Litteraturen blir sett på i dialog med forskningsdeltakerne og gjennom relevant teori og litteratur. Drøftingen og funnene peker mot at korpsdirigenters tanker ved ledelse av samspill i korps er mangfoldige, og mot at dirigentenes egen oppfatning av hva samspill er har betydning for hvordan de leder samspill. Resultatene for oppgaven viser også et sprik mellom den artikulerte kunnskapen fra lærebøker og fagplaner om korps, og hvordan dirigentene selv ser på samspill og hvilke aspekter som for de er viktige. Oppgavens resultater er et bidrag til kunnskapsfeltet for korpsdireksjon, utdanning av korpsdirigenter, men også til lærerpraksiser, lærerutdanninger og andre yrker der samspill er vesentlig.

The master thesis Korpsdirigenten og samspill intend to examine what characterize the approach of two marching band conductors on the subject of interplay. The thesis is based on empirical data gathered through the interviews of two marching band conductors. Based on the findings in the empirical data the thesis discusses which aspects that are found important to the conductors and their approach on interplay. In chapter 2, the study is put into context through the discourse of marching bands in Norway. This part of the thesis accounts for the history of marching bands and also terms, and it clarifies the interests of the biggest Non-Governmental organization for marching bands in Norway, Norges Musikkorps Forbund, specifically concerning the education and training of instructors and conductors. The results found in this thesis show that conductors thoughts and opinions when it comes to interplay are divers, and that the conductors own opinions and experience strongly affects what is important for them in their approach to interplay. The results also show a gap between the articulated knowledge gathered in textbooks and curriculum to how the conductors themselves perceive interplay and what aspects they have determined to be important. This thesis displays which aspects conductors chose to use in their leadership of interplay and what aspects that is found to be important to Norges Musikkorps Forbund through the literature available. This is displayed in a dialog between the research participants and through relevant theory and literature. The results found through this research is of relevance to marching band conductors and conductors of other ensembles, teachers and others where interplay is of importance to their everyday work.
