Abstract

Tittel: Sykepleiers erfaring med barn som pårørende til forelder med psykisk lidelse.

Bakgrunn for valg av tema: I Norge er det anslått at 37% av barn fra 0-18 år har foreldre med en psykisk lidelse. Grunnen til at dette tema ble valgt var for det var så lite fokus på det i praksisperioden.

Hensikt: Hensikten er å lære mer om sykepleiers rolle i møte med barn som er pårørende til forelder med psykisk lidelse.

Metode: Bacheloroppgaven er en litteraturstudie som inneholder åtte forskningsartikler. Den inneholder både kvalitative og kvantitative forskningsartikler. Et PIO-skjema ble brukt for å få oversikt over søkeord. Det ble søkt i databasene Svemed+, ScienceDirect og CinahlComplete. Oppslagsverket Oria ble også brukt.

Resultat: Funnene i denne litteraturstudien viser at sykepleierne følte at ikke var godt nok forberedt av sin utdanning til å møte pasientens barn. Det viser seg at de hadde en positiv holdning når det gjaldt å identifisere om pasienten hadde barn eller ikke. Til tross for dette var det ikke alle som gjorde dette. Sykepleierne ønsket kunnskap og opplæring i hvordan møte pasientens barn og hvordan kommunisere med barna.

Oppsummering: Denne oppgaven framhever sykepleiers erfaringer og tanker om det å møte pasientens barn. Oppgaven tar for seg identifisering av pasienten barn, barneansvarlig, informasjon og kommunikasjon med barn som har forelder med psykisk lidelse.

Title: Nursing experience with children as caregivers of a parent with a mental illness.

Background: In Norway it is estimated that 37% of children aged 0-18 years have parents with a mental illness. The reason why we chose this theme, is because it was not much focus on it during practice.

Purpose: The purpose is to learn more about the nurse's role when meeting children who have parents with a mental illness.

Method: The study is a literature study which contains eight research papers. It includes both quantitative and qualitative research articles. A PIO-form was used to get the list of keywords. To find research it was searched in the databases Svemed+, ScienceDirect and CinahlComplete. Oria was also used.

Results: The findings of this literature study show that nurses felt that they were not well enough prepared by the education to meet the patient's children. They had a positive attitude when it came to identifying whether the patient had children or not. Despite this, there was not many who did that. Nurses wanted knowledge and training in how to meet the patient's children and how to communicate with the children.

Summary: The paper emphasizes the nurse's experiences and thoughts about meeting the patient's children. This paper includes the identification of the patient children, childrens responsible, information and communication with children who have a parent with a mental illness.
