Medical Imaging Interpretation Courseware - Course Management and Interactive Medical Imaging Applications
Abstract
An important field within medical technology is medical imaging. Medical imaging is the process of creating visual representations of internal structures. These visual representations can be used to set a diagnosis, to decide upon a treatment, or as a tool during surgery. Medical imaging is widely used, and it is thus important that those use such images has adequately knowledge and skills for using and interpreting them.
The use and interpretation of various medical imaging modalities is often a part of different courses held at hospitals and educational institutes. To help assist those courses, a course and test administration system was developed as a web application, named \textit{Medical Imaging Interpretation Courseware}.
The application contains features for course, user and test administration. Users can be organized into groups, and be added to a course, either through the group or as single users. A course can consist of different tests. The tests can contain various test types, including text questions and questions that interactively use medical images.
The application was tested by an appropriate audience and the results show a promising indication that the application can train and assess medical imaging interpretation skills in a visual and interactive manner.
