Abstract
Purpose: The following thesis describes development of educational activity in order to enhance students’ practical and theoretical knowledge on topics of kaizen, waste types, efficiency, push/pull production systems, in addition to this, it gives suggestions/guidelines for creation of similar activities. Approach: Such methods as literature review and group interview were used in order to conduct the study and evaluate developed educational activity. Practical case study approach was also applied. Findings: Educational activities based on learning factories are a valuable part of the learning process, since they significantly enhance practical and theoretical knowledge of participants. Combination of use of such concepts as learning factories, experience based learning, experiential learning cycle, game based learning, serious games and sensemaking leads to enhancement of learning experience gained during educational activities. Value: Thesis can be used as instruction for application of the developed educational activity. In addition to this, it includes list of suggestions and example for those willing to create similar activities, especially in the field of engineering and manufacturing education.
