Bærekraftig fokus - Et forstudie med fokus på mellomstore produksjonsbedrifter i Innlandet

Abstract

Hensikten med vår oppgave er å se på hvilket fokus på bærekraft som finnes hos mellomstore produksjonsbedrifter i Innlandet. Oppgaven kom på forespørsel fra NTNU i Gjøvik, hvor de ønsket å få et innblikk i fokuset på bærekraft hos SMB bedrifter i Innlandet. Vi har valgt å avgrense oppgaven, ved å fokusere på de mellomstore bedriftene i SMBbegrepet. Vi har valgt å avgrense det ytterligere, ved og kun inkludere produksjonsbedrifter i vår oppgave. Oppgaven er spesifisert som en pilotstudie, og gjøres i forkant av et større forskningsprosjekt ved NTNU, som vil ta for seg fokus på bærekraft hos SMB-bedrifter i Innlandet. Vi har valgt å gjennomføre 10 kvalitative intervjuer med ledere i mellomstore produksjonsbedrifter i Innlandet. På bakgrunn av disse 10 intervjuene har vi utarbeidet et forslag til spørreskjema for en kvantitativ undersøkelse med et betydelig større utvalg. Resultatene fra intervjuene vil bli presentert og analysert i oppgaven, men vil ikke ligge vedlagt som transkriberinger. Dette grunnet at bedriftene er anonymiserte, samt at transkriberingene er på ca. 200 sider. I oppgaven beskriver vi begrepet bærekraft, dets betydning og historie, triple bottom line og bærekraftsrapportering, for å nevne noen aspekter. Resultatene fra våre intervjuer viser en tendens til at de mellomstore produksjonsbedriftene i Innlandet ikke har et alt for høyt fokus på bærekraft og den tredelte bunnlinjen. Vi mener dette kan spores tilbake til at dette ikke er begreper bedriftene har et nært nok forhold til.

The purpose of our task is to take a closer look at the focus that midsize manufacturing companies in Innlandet has towards sustainability. This task came as a request from NTNU in Gjøvik, where they wanted to get an idea of the focus on sustainability in SME enterprises in Innlandet. We have chosen to limit our thesis, by focusing on the midsize companies in the SME-term. We have also made a choice to limit the thesis further, by only including manufacturing companies. The thesis is specified as a pilot study, and will be conducted in advance of a major research project at NTNU, which will deal with the focus on sustainability among SMEs in Innlandet. We have chosen to conduct 10 qualitative interviews with managers of midsized manufacturing companies in Innlandet. On the basis of these 10 interviews we have drafted a proposal for a survey, which will be used in a quantitative study with a significantly larger selection of companies. The results of the interviews will be presented and analyzed in the paper, but will not be attached as transcriptions. This is due to the anonymity of the companies, and the fact that transcription is approximately 200 pages. In this thesis, we will describe the concept of sustainability, its significance and history, triple bottom line and sustainability reporting, to name a few aspects. The results of our interviews shows a tendency that the midsized manufacturing companies in Innlandet do not have a too high focus on sustainability and the triple bottom line. We believe this can be traced to the fact that these are not concepts that the companies have a close enough relation to.
