Sammendrag
A commercially available fuel cell has successfully been implemented in a fuel efficiency vehicle which participated in the French 2008 event of the Shell Eco-Marathon. To do so the cell was tested, so an optimal utilization could be found. A fuel supply and safety system was made as a part of the vehicle integration. The maximum cell efficiency was found to be 50 percent referred to lower heating value. Some drawbacks were discovered, and suggestions regarding improvements were made. A vehicle simulation model was created to calculate power demand and for the use during testing of different driving strategies. The fuel cell was the most complex part of the vehicle system, but it was also shown that the largest improvement of the vehicle could be made in this field.
