TRANSFORMING CISSI KLEIN VGS INTO AN OFFICE BUILDING FOCUS ON FLEXIBILITY

Abstract

Cissi Klein Videregående er en ny videregående skole som for tiden bygges i Falkenborgvegen 32 i Trondheim. Skolen er designet med fleksible designløsninger slik at byggets planløsning og funksjoner enkelt kan endres til andre funksjoner i fremtiden. Trøndelag fylkeskommune laget en tabell over mulige bruksområder i fremtiden, hvor et kulturbygg eller et kontorbygg ble ansett som de mest mulige bruksområdene i løpet av de neste 50 årene. I dette prosjektet ble bygningens fleksibilitet undersøkt, og skolen ble omgjort til et kontorbygg satt 50 år frem i tid.

Fleksibiliteten til bygget ble undersøkt ved hjelp av disse metodene; transformere bygget om til et kontorbygg, og undersøke det eksisterende byggets fleksibilitet. Designe en 5. etasje, og undersøke eksisterende ventilasjonsanlegg og tilgang til dagslys i bygget.

Bygget var relativt enkelt å gjøre om til et kontorbygg. Den eksisterende planløsningen gav mye fleksibilitet og fungerte godt med endringene til åpne landskapskontorer og åpne aktivitetsbaserte kontorer. Bygget var mindre fleksibelt med endringer til mindre celle- og teamkontorer. Hensyn til utforming av vindusutforming og fasade, struktur og materialvalg i U1 og 1. etasje, og utvidelsesmulighetene i 5. etasje burde blitt tatt mer hensyn til i tidlig prosjekteringsfase av bygget.

Cissi Klein Videregående is an upper secondary school that is currently being built in Falkenborgvegen 32 in Trondheim. The school was designed with flexible design solutions so that the building`s layout and functions easily can be changed into other functions in the future. Trøndelag fylkeskommune made a table of potential uses in the future, where a cultural building or an office building was considered the most potential uses within the next 50 years. In this project, the flexibility of the building was investigated, and the school was transformed into an office building set 50 years in the future.

The flexibility of the building was investigated by these methods: Transforming the building into an office building, and investigating the existing building`s flexibility. Adding an additional 5th floor, and investigating the existing ventilation system and access to daylight.

The building was relatively easy to transform into an office building. The existing building layout offered a lot of flexibility and worked well with the changes to open landscape offices and activity-based offices. The building was less flexible with changes to smaller cell and team offices. The design of the window layout and facade, structure and material choices in U1 and 1st floor, and the expansion possibilities on the 5th floor should have been taken more into account during the early design phase of the building.
