Tidsvitner fra dyper. En opparbeidet kunnskapsstatus og analyse av skipsvrak fra andre verdenskrig langs norskekysten.

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven undersøker skipsvrak fra andre verdenskrig langs norskekysten. Oppgaven har to hovedproblemstillinger der det første presenterer ulike aktører som danner et bilde av dagens kunnskapssituasjon rundt skipsvrak fra andre verdenskrig langs norskekysten. Blant disse ulike aktørene er to hovedfagsoppgaver, diverse lover og en helt ny skipsvraktabell. Utarbeidelsen av kunnskapsstatusen skal bidra til å fylle kunnskapshull man finner på dette området og gjøre det lettere å holde oversikt over skipsvrakene langs norskekysten. Gjennom historiske arkiver, lovverk og empiriske undersøkelser bidrar oppgaven til å fylle kunnskapshull og identifisere behovet for en helhetlig tilnærming til forvaltning og vern av disse kulturminnene. Problemstilling to analyserer noen utplukkede skipsvrak fra den nye inkluderte skipsvraktabellen. Analysene bruker fenomenologi som metode, noe som bringer frem det menneskelige aspekter ved skipsvrakene. Ved analysen vurdere oppgaven deres arkeologiske og historiske betydning og viser at skipsvrak har ulike potensialer og ressurser som vi kan dra nytte av i dag. Samtidig peker problemstilling på utfordringer knyttet til forskning, forvaltning og formidling. Dette resulterte i en oppgave som understreker hvilket behov skipsvrakene har i dag og hvordan vi kan hjelpe dem oppnå deres fulle potensial.

This master's thesis investigates shipwrecks from World War II along the Norwegian coast. The thesis has two main objectives, with the first one presenting various actors that form a picture of the current state of knowledge regarding World War II shipwrecks along the Norwegian coast. Among these various actors are two main research tasks, various laws, and a completely new shipwreck overview. The compilation of the knowledge status aims to fill knowledge gaps found in this area and make it easier to keep track of the shipwrecks along the Norwegian coast. Through historical archives, legislation, and empirical investigations, the thesis contributes to filling knowledge gaps and identifying the need for a comprehensive approach to the management and preservation of these cultural heritage sites.

The second issue analyzes selected shipwrecks from the newly included shipwreck table. The analyses use phenomenology as a method, which brings out the human aspects of the shipwrecks. Through the analysis, the thesis evaluates their archaeological and historical significance and demonstrates that shipwrecks have various potentials and resources that we can benefit from today. At the same time, the issue highlights challenges related to research, management, and dissemination. This resulted in a thesis that emphasizes the needs of shipwrecks today and how we can help them achieve their full potential.
