In Norway, minority families are the largest group receiving support and interventions from the child welfare services, which entails regular contact and collaboration between the child welfare services and minority parents. This thesis focuses on various challenges that may arise when the child welfare services interact with minority parents. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to create a broader understanding of the challenges that arise and how the child welfare services can address them through a more multicultural approach. Research indicates that minority parents have diverse experiences with the child welfare services and often find the interactions problematic. This has led to widespread fear and mistrust of the child welfare services among minority communities in Norway. Contact with the child welfare services often involves difficult and complex issues, which can result in various challenges due to language and cultural differences. The thesis discusses challenges related to culture, communication, relationships, and economics. These challenges are complex and mutually influence each other. A key finding is that mistrust of the child welfare services affects not only the relationship but also communication and attitudes towards each other's cultures. For child welfare workers, it is useful to have cultural competence and pre-understanding to meet and understand the needs of minority families and to handle the challenges that may arise. The thesis uses literature studies as a method, involving a systematic search for relevant literature. The research question of the thesis is illuminated through research and current literature.
