Konsekvensene av å være utsatt for seksuelle overgrep av noen i familien

Abstract

Denne oppgaven omhandler seksuelle overgrep innad i familien. De fleste vet at det finnes barn som utsettes for seksuelle overgrep. Barnevernets oppgave etter barnevernloven §1-1 er å «sikre at barn og ungdom som lever under forhold som kan skade deres helse og utvikling, får nødvendig hjelp, omsorg og beskyttelse til rett tid»

Formålet med oppgaven er å undersøke og analysere konsekvensene barn opplever ved å bli utsatt for seksuelle overgrep innad i familien. Problemstillingen fremstår: «Hvilke konsekvenser opplever barn som er utsatt for seksuelle overgrep innad i familien?». Gjennom litteratursøk om relevant litteratur og etterforskning, har jeg funnet ulike psykiske, sosiale og fysiske konsekvenser av seksuelle overgrep innad i familien.

Definisjonen av seksuelle overgrep vil ta utgangspunkt i den juridiske definisjonen. Den er forankret i straffeloven kapittel 26. Seksuelle overgrep er kriminelt. Straffen for handlingen er forankret i straffeloven og barnevernsloven. Hvem er egentlig de som overgriper seg på barn? Og hvordan kan vi som barnevernspedagog oppdage seksuelle overgrep? Barna har vanskeligheter med å fortelle om opplevelsene sine, da utfallet kan virke usikkert og skremmende. Gjennom tilknytningsperspektivet vil vi se hvordan opplevelsen av seksuelle overgrep fra familie kan påvirke hvilken tilknytning barna får med omsorgspersonene sine. Traumebevisst omsorg setter en forståelsesramme for hvordan barnevernet kan jobbe med barna.

Samlet sett vil oppgaven ha fokus på konsekvensene av seksuelle overgrep. Dette for å øke bevisstheten rundt alvorlighetsgraden, samt øke kompetansen knyttet til omfanget av seksuelle overgrep hos barnevernspedagoger. Oppgaven er en litteraturstudie, der sentrale funn er samlet fra eksisterende forskning for å belyse temaet.

This assignment deals with sexual abuse within the family. Most people are aware that there are children who are exposed to sexual abuse. The task of the child protection service according to the child protection act §1-1 is to “ensure that children and youth living under conditions that may harm their health and development receive necessary help, care, and protection at the right time”.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine and analyze the consequences experienced by children who are exposed to sexual abuse within the family. The problem statement is “The consequences of experiencing sexual abuse by someone in the family”. Through a literature search on relevant literature and investigation have I found vaious psychological, social and physical consequences of sexual abuse within the family.

The definition of sexual abuse will be based on the legal definisjon, as outlined in chapter 26 of the Norwegian criminal law. Sexual abuse is a criminal act, with penalties specified in the criminal act and child protection act. Who are the ones who abuse children? And how can we as child welfare workers detect sexual abuse? The children have difficulty talking about their experiences, as the outcome can seem uncertain and frightening. Through the connection perpective, we will see how the experience of sexual abuse from family can affect the connection children have with their carers. Trauma-informed care sets a framework for understanding how child protection can work with children.

Overall, the theasis will focus on the consequences of sexual abuse. This is to increase awareness of the degree of severity, as well as to increase the competence related to the extent of sexual abuse among child welfare workers. The assignment is a literature study, where key findings are gathered from existing research to illuminate the topic.
