In this assignment, I will be exploring Foley sound and building on previous experiences with sound design to improve the implementation and quality of my sound design for the video game Hairy. Hairy is a 2D side scroller video game, in which you play as Hairy, a strand of hair who falls from the head of a chef into various dishes. The goal is to make it through the stages and earn points by eating different foods along the way, and avoiding obstacles and foods that decrease health and points. The assignment is made up of creative work and this report. The creative work involves the prosses of working on the sound design for Hairy, from audio recordings to implementation in Unity with FMOD. In the report I discuss the process, thought surrounding the creative work, how sound design changes when working with Foley instead of samples from sound libraries, and reflections. I cite and mention various games, texts, and videos which shaped my approach to the creative work.
