Skrekk i David Finchers Zodiac

Abstract

Denne bachelor oppgaven undersøker hva som skaper skrekk i film ved å gjøre en stilanalyse av spesifikke scener. I analysen vil det bli sett på hvordan de fire grunnelementene mise en scène, kinematografi, lyd og redigering spiller på lag med hverandre og kun seg selv for å skape skrekk. Stilanalysen blir satt kontekst ved hjelp av Greg Smith sin stemningstilnærming som går ut på at stil er det som skaper stemning (stemningstegn) og stemning tillater et kort utbrudd av følelser (følelsesmarkør). Det er 3 scener fra David Fincher sin film Zodiac (Fincher 2007) som står i fokus for analysen. Funnene fra hver av analysene vil bli til slutt sammenlignet for å finne en konklusjon.

This bachelor thesis will explore what creates horror in film by doing a film style analysis of specific scenes. The analysis will try and show how the elemements, called mise en scène, cinematography, sound and editing, create horror. The style analysis will be put in context with the help of Greg Smiths mood cue approach. The mood cue approach is about how film style will create moods (mood cues) and those moods will allow the chance of an eruption of emotion (emotion marker). It is 3 scenes from David Finchers Zodiac (Fincher 2007) that is the focus of the analysis. The findings from each scenes will be compared to find an conclusion.
