In this bachelor thesis, I explored how the media phenomenon toxic masculinity is expressed through a content analysis of the influencer Andrew Tate on the social media platform X, and the internet subculture incels on the forum incels.is. The findings from the analysis were then discussed in relation to two central media theories, cultivation theory and uses and gratifications theory. The purpose of the thesis was to explain toxic masculinity as a media phenomenon. This was carried out first by examining the presence of such expressions, followed by a discussion that applied the two theories to explain the phenomenon.
