Analyse av historikeres syn på de norske borgerkrigene

Abstract

I denne undersøkelsen er målet å sammenligne et tradisjonelt syn og et nyere syn på de norske borgerkrigene (1130-1240). Hovedfokuset vil ligge på historikerne Sverre Bagge og Hans Jacob Orning, men de vil suppleres med andre historikere som deler deres syn. Sagakritikk er en viktig del av undersøkelsen siden mye informasjon om borgerkrigene kommer fra sagaene. Det brukes artikler og bøker som omhandler de norske borgerkrigene og det skal legges frem hvilket syn disse artiklene og bøkene innehar. Undersøkelsen søker også å finne ut hvilken rolle allianser, aristokratiet og krigføring spilte inn i borgerkrigene.

In this examination the goal is to compare a traditional view and a newer view on the Norwegian Civil Wars (1130-1240). The main focus will be on the historians Sverre Bagge and Hans Jacob Orning, but they will be supplied with other historians that share their views. Critics of the Sagas is an important part of the examination since much of the information about the Civil Wars stems from the Sagas. Articles and books containing information about the Civil Wars will be used and what view these articles and books have on the Civil Wars will come forward. The examination seeks also to find out what role alliances, the aristocracy and warfare played within the Civil Wars.
