| dc.description.abstract | I denne bacheloroppgaven har vi gjennomført en lønnsomhetsanalyse av Quality Hotell i perioden 2016 til 2019. Quality Hotell har beliggenhet i hjertet av Trondheim sentrum, noe som er perfekt for konferanser, utflukter og ikke minst matopplevelser. Hotellet er en del av Strawberry som er en av de største hotellkjedene i Skandinavia med 240 hoteller i Skandinavia, Finland og Baltikum og over 16 500 ansatte. Vår problemstilling er «Lønnsomhetsanalyse av Quality Hotel Prinsen i perioden 2016-2019».
I innledningsdelen legger vi frem bakgrunnen for oppgaven, en kort presentasjon av Quality Hotell, temaet for oppgaven og videre struktur. Etterpå presenterer vi teoriene knyttet til regnskapsanalyse og forskjellige nøkkeltall som gir grunnlag for en lønnsomhetsanalyse. Teorien om benchmarking blir også presentert siden vi ønsker å gjøre en sammenligning med en direkte konkurrent i bransjen. I metodekapitallet beskriver vi metoden vi har benyttet for å komme frem til besvarelsen til vår problemstilling og reflekterer over validiteten og relabiliteten til våre analyser.
Våre analyser viser at Quality hotell har hatt en tilfredsstillende lønnsomhet, god finansieringsstruktur, god solitditet og god likviditet gjennom hele perioden. Likevel har de ikke en positiv utviklingstrend når det kommer til lønnsomhet. Både totalkapitalrentabilitet og egenkapitalrentabilitet har en tendens til å gå ned på grunn av økt driftskostnadsandel og redusert driftsinntekt. Når vi sammenligner med deres direkte konkurrent – Comfort Hotell, kan vi se at Comfort Hotell har bedre lønnsomhet til tross for svak soliditet og svak likviditet i forhold til Quality Hotell. Likevel har Quality Hotell forbedringsmulighet gjennom å styrke resultatsgrad og kapitalens omløpshastighet. | |
| dc.description.abstract | In this bachelor's thesis, we have carried out a profitability analysis of Quality Hotel in the period 2016 to 2019. Quality Hotel is located in the heart of Trondheim city centre, which is perfect for conferences, excursions and, not least, dining experiences. The hotel is a part of Strawberry which is one of the largest hotel chains in Scandinavia with 240 hotels in Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltics and over 16,500 employees. The research question in the theiss is "Profitability analysis of Quality Hotel Prinsen in the period 2016-2019".
In the introductory part, we present the background to the thesis, a brief presentation of Quality Hotel, the topic of the thesis and further structure. Afterwards, we present the theories related to accounting analysis and various key figures that provide a basis for a profitability analysis. The theory of benchmarking is also presented since we want to make a comparison with a direct competitor in the branch. In the method capital, we describe the method we have used to arrive at the answer to our thesis question and reflect on the validity and reliability of our analyses.
Our analyzes show that Quality Hotel has had satisfactory profitability, a good financing structure, good solidity and good liquidity throughout the period. Nevertheless, they do not have a positive development trend when it comes to profitability. Both return on total capital and return on equity tend to decrease due to increased ratio of operating cost and reduced operating income. When we compare with their direct competitor - Comfort Hotel, we can see that Comfort Hotel has better profitability despite weak solidity and weak liquidity compared to Quality Hotel. Nevertheless, Quality Hotel has room for improvement by strengthening the profit margin and capital's turnover rate. | |
