dc.description.abstract | This paper presents a finite-control-set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy for achieving power control in inductive power transfer (IPT) -based electric vehicle (EV) charging systems. The proposed control method is applied to a series-series-compensated IPT system when charging a battery appearing as a constant voltage load (CVL). It has been previously shown that IPT systems with CVL can exhibit large current/power oscillations due to the low damping of a critical mode that can be excited by pulse skipping modulation techniques such as pulse density modulation (PDM). By predicting the next optimal switching states and the input power, the proposed control method will suppress the oscillations caused by pulse skipping operation, while ensuring a fast dynamic response and zero voltage switching (ZVS) operation. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed control method in comparison with a PI-based PDM method are verified by the simulation results. | en_US |
