Båtgraver i landskapet

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven tar for seg båtgraver og hvordan de ligger i landskapet. Oppgavens fokus er å forstå forholdet mellom fire båtgraver i Steinkjer, Trøndelag og det landskapet de ligger i, i tillegg til å drøfte båtenes betydning, samt orientering i grava. Ved å gjøre en arkeologisk landskapsanalyse med visuelle metoder utforskes forholdet mellom grav og landskap, slik at man får en bedre forståelse på hvorfor gravene forekommer der de ligger. Det religiøse og hellige perspektivet vil også bli diskutert, for å få en annen vinkling på forholdet mellom båtgrav og landskap.

This bachelor thesis will discuss and analyse boat graves and how they appear in the landscape. The focus of this thesis is to understand the relationship between four boat graves in Steinkjer, Trøndelag and the landscape they appear in, while also discussing the significance of the boats, as well as the boat’s orientation inside the grave. By doing an archaeological landscape analysis with visual methods, the relationship between boat grave and landscape is explored, so that one can get a better understanding of why the graves occur in the landscape. The religious and sacred perspective will also be discussed, in order to get a different angle on the relationship between boat grave and landscape.
