During the 19th and 20th centuries, a number of bronze objects are found in Oppdal and Rennebu, which are dated to the end of the Younger Nordic Bronze Age. The hoards peripheral location has given rise to a number of theories and interpretations as to why they have been deposited precisely here in these mountain areas, even if the hoards bear the stamp of having been part of the same deposition practices seen elsewhere in Scandinavia during the same time. In the research from the 20th- and 21st century, only certain contexts of the landscape have been emphasized in the interpretation of the repositories. The aim of this thesis is to analyze all the emphasized contexts from previous research, which involve hunting and trapping, travel, as well as traces of a possible local settlement, in an attempt to see how the context of the hoards from Stavå, Brudal and Gunnesøy can shed light on the deposition practices in the end of the Younger Nordic Bronze Age in Oppdal and Rennebu. The result shows a comprehensive picture of potential conditions, which involve both the presence of wild reindeer and travel, in a possible outer edge of settlement. This distinctive landscape can therefore be seen as an influencing factor for the choice of disposal site and that there has been room for local variations in disposal practice.
