A study has been carried out on the control of two synchronous machines connected in series. We will also study how to reduce the oscillations in undamped permanent magnet machines. This study will allow for further development of a twin harmonic machine with contra-rotating rotors controlling two rotors with a single stator. Through the design of a laboratory bench and various tests, the field current and motor speed were varied. The tests led to the conclusion that the motors influence each other. It is important to control the overexcitation of the motors to prevent one of them from lacking enough power to overcome the resistive torque.
