Abstract
This assignment addresses the quality of life for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers. The focus is on understanding their challenges, particularly related to trauma and migration, and promoting their well-being through social support and facilitation at asylum reception centers.
The theories of trauma and migration are crucial for comprehending their experiences. Preventing conflicts and wars in their home countries is emphasized as an important responsibility. The living situation at reception centers and accessible social support play a crucial role in their well-being. The temporariness of the asylum process can affect their hope and adaptability. Mental health is highlighted as central, with a focus on enhancing their coping capacity by understanding their sense of coherence. Relationships and social support play a key role in enhancing their quality of life.
The assignment underscores the need for a holistic approach that takes into account individual needs and structural factors to effectively support these vulnerable individuals and promote their well-being, adaptation, and development.
The assignment concludes that it's important to provide unaccompanied minor asylum seekers with a good start in Norway and that there is a need for improved offerings, social support, and follow-up at reception centers.
