Barn med spesielle behov under barnevernets omsorg

Abstract

Sammendrag Problemstilling: Hvordan legge til rette for barn med autismespekterdiagnoser under barnevernets omsorg? Bakgrunn og formål: Det faglige fokuset på barn med autismespekterdiagnoser i barnevernet har både i Norge og på internasjonal basis vært begrenset. Det er i dag ca 1 % av Norges befolkning som lider av en autismespekterforstyrrelse, og per 2015 hadde 23,9 % av barn og unge plassert i institusjon diagnosen Aspergers syndrom. Autismespekterforstyrrelse er en bred diagnose, og barn med diagnosen har unike behov for hjelp og tilrettelegging. Denne hjelpen har de også rett på i barnevernet, og jeg vil med denne oppgaven belyse viktig kompetanse i arbeid med barn med ASF. Jeg vil også diskutere viktige tiltak i forbindelse med plassering av et barn med autisme og hvilke type institusjonsplasseringer som er hensiktsmessige for disse barna. Metode: Metoden brukt i forbindelse med denne oppgaven er litteraturstudie. I dette litteraturstudie har jeg foretatt meg et litteratursøk der jeg bruker eksisterende litteratur til å belyse min problemstilling. Resultater og konklusjon: Jeg har kommet fram til at den barnevernsfaglige kompetansen, med fokus på relasjonskompetanse, traumebevisst omsorg og miljøterapeutisk arbeid, er meget viktig i arbeid med barn med ASF. Denne kompetansen tar hensyn til barnets uttrykksmåter, atferd og kognitive utvikling, og bidrar til at barnet blir sett, hørt og forstått. I tillegg presiseres viktigheten av at de ansatte får tilegnet seg diagnosespesifikk kompetanse, som en supplerende kompetanse i arbeid med en krevende barnegruppe. Den diagnosespesifikke kunnskapen bidrar til forståelse, respekt og toleranse for diagnosens uttrykk. Til slutt diskuterer jeg fordeler og ulemper ved barnebolig og enetiltak, og ser på disse som gode plasseringsalternativer for barn med ASF, med grunnlag i stort rom for tilrettelegging og kompetanseheving.

Abstract Research question: How to facilitate for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) under child care services Background and purpose: The academic focus on children with autism spectrum disorders under child care services have both in Norway and internationally been limited. Today there are about 1 % of Norway’s population that suffers from ASD, and in 2015 about 23,9 % of young people living in institutions suffer from Asperger’s syndrome. ASD is a wide-ranging disorder, and children with the diagnose have a unique need for help and facilitation. I will with this assignment clarify important knowledge when working with children with ASD. I will also discuss important measures in regards to moving a child with ASD and what kind of child care institutions which are most appropriate for these children. Method: The method I have used in this assignment is a literature study. In this literature study, I have made a literature search where I use existing literature to elucidate my research question. Results and conclusion: I have come to the conclusion that knowledge of child care services, with emphasis on relationship building, trauma-informed care, and social work, is important in work with children with ASD. This knowledge takes the child’s expressions, behavior, and cognitive development into account, and this contributes to the child being seen, heard and understood. In addition to that, I emphasize the importance of the social workers getting expert knowledge about ASD. This knowledge contributes to understanding, respect and tolerance for the diagnose and, it’s symptom expressions. In the end I discuss the positive and negative effects with homes for children with special needs and institutions where there only lives one child with social workers. I consider those good alternatives for moving children with ASD, with good options for acquiring new knowledge and facilitating the institution.
