Sosial Angst blant ungdom
Abstract
Tittel: Sosial angst blant ungdom
Titel: Social anxiety among adolescents.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to bring light upon nursing care for young people who suffer from social anxiety, so that they can get the best conditions to cope with their everyday life in the best possible way. As well as putting the spotlight on improvement opportunities within the subject.Issue/Aim: How can nurses help young people who suffer from social anxiety to cope with everyday life as best as possible.
Method: The method is systematic literature study. The bachelor contains 7 research articles, professional articles and other professional literature from nursing.
Results: The importance of a nurse who has up-to-date professional knowledge of the subject, plans of treatment, implements and follow ups on the patient and the relatives is very important. Information and messages must be communicated clearly from the nurse to the patient, and the relatives and the patient’s support system, if the patient wish so. The best documented form of treatment is a mixture between SSRI/SNRI and cognitive behavioural therapy, in the form of exposure-based therapy. There are major barriers that someone with social anxiety encounters when meeting with mental healthcare. Long treatment queues, understaffing and lack of follow-up are barriers that can have a major impact on the outcome of the treatment, not least the diagnosis of the patients. This leads to many adolescents going undiagnosed, and many avoids treatment.
Conclusion: Clear communication, in the form of information to the patient, relatives and the patient’s support system. As well as good planning and good follow-up of the young patient with social anxiety, contribute to the patient being able to cope with their everyday life as best as possible, and to be free of the disease. Up-to-date knowledge and experience around drugs, recommended treatment, exposure therapy and communication are very important to get the desired outcome of the treatment. With updated knowledge, nurses can faster detect the social anxiety, which with early detection provides the best possible conditions for early implementation of recommended treatment with exposure-based therapy and SSRI/SNRI, which provides good conditions for becoming disease-free. It’s important for the nurse to be cooperative and supporting towards the patient and the relatives through the whole treatment.
