Abstract
Tittel: Reguleringen av emosjoner og følelser hos personer med autismespekterforstyrrelser.
Introduksjon/bakgrunn: Det anses at ca 1% av jordas befolkning har autismespekterforstyrrelse. Dette er en utviklingsforstyrrelse som kjennetegnes ved en spesiell atferd, og kommer med ulike vansker knyttet til emosjoner. Mennesker med autismespekterforstyrrelse har som kjent vansker med å kontrollere emosjoner og følelser, noe som påvirker andre faktorer. Dette kan være sosial utvikling, psykisk helse og samhandling med andre.
Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven er å undersøke hvilken effekt god emosjonsregulering har hos mennesker med autismespekterforstyrrelse
Metode: Denne oppgaven benytter seg av metoden litteraturstudie. Det er blitt valgt ut fem fagfellevurderte forskningsartikler gjennom litteratursøk i ulike databaser. Det er også blitt benyttet annen relevant teori.
Resultat: De fem utvalgte artiklene ga funn som støttet den valgte problemstillingen. Hovedfunnene som ble lagt frem og diskutert i oppgaven er: Emosjonsregulering, psykisk helse grunnet dårlig emosjonsregulering ved ASD og sosial utvikling.
Konklusjon: En styrket regulering av emosjoner og følelser vil hjelpe mennesker med autismespekterforstyrrelse å kunne styrke den sosiale utviklingen, redusere sjansene for å oppleve psykiske lidelser og begrense uønsket atferd. Dårlig regulering av emosjoner og følelser fører til dårligere sosial fungering.

Introduction/background: It is considered that 1% of the world´s population has autism spectrum disorder. This is a developmental disorder that is characterized by a particular behavior and comes with various difficulties linked to emotions. People with autism spectrum disorders are known to have difficulty controlling emotions and feelings, which affects other factors. This can be social development, mental health and interaction with other people.
Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to find out the effect of good emotion regulation in people with autism spectrum disorders.
Method: This thesis uses literature study as methos. Five peer-reviewed research articles have been selected through a structured literature search in different approved databases.
Result: The five selected articles provided findings that supported the chosen issue. The main findings presented and discussed in the thesis are emotional regulation, mental health due poor emotion regulation in ASD and social development.
Conclusion: A strengthened regulation of emotions and feelings will help people with autism spectrum disorders to be able to strengthen their social development, reduce the chances of experiencing mental health disorders and limit unwanted behavior. Poor regulation of emotions and feelings leads to poorer social functioning.
