Et førkolumbisk hodebånds usikre tilværelse i Trondheim Kunstmuseum

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven skal ta for seg et førkolumbisk hodebånd i Eik-Nes samlingen til Trondheim Kunstmuseum. Oppgaven vil gå inn på kolonialistiske gjenstanders posisjon i det moderne museet, med hodebåndet som eksempel. Museumshistorie, det lovlige og ulovlige kunstmarkedet, samt den voksende interessen i såkalt "primitiv kunst" på 1900-tallet er sentralt i denne oppgaven. Teorier rundt dekolonisering og sammenligninger med gamle utstillinger vil brukes for å belyse oppgaven.

The following bachelor thesis takes a look at a pre-Columbian headband in Trondheim Kunstmuseum's Eik Nes Collection. The thesis will delve into the place of colonial objects, such as the headband, in the modern museum. The history of museums, the illicit and legal art market, and the growing fascination with so-called "primitive art" in the 20th century will be central in this thesis. Decolonization theories and comparisons to older exhibitions will be utilized here.
