This thesis considers the collection ‘Den Coldevin Rosenvingske samling’, which is owned by Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum, and how it has been presented to the public. The thesis discusses the presentation of art in the form of example copies combined to create an exhibit. The differences between the viewer’s experience of the original works and the photocopies are compared using Walter Benjamin’s concept of auratic perception. Additionally, the thesis reflects on the similarities and differences in art museums’ and cultural-historical museums’ approaches to the items in their collections and how these are presented to the public with different purposes.
