I interaksjon med musikken Et dypdykk i forholdet mellom spiller og spillmusikk i videospillet Super Mario Galaxy

Abstract

Denne oppgaven har som hovedformål å gjøre et dypdykk i hvordan å oppfatte, analysere, og sette ord på interaksjon mellom musikk og spiller i videospill. Super Mario Galaxy, utgitt av Nintendo i 2007, er spillet oppgaven tar et dypdykk i, for å se hvordan spillmekaniske elementer påvirker musikken til stede, samt se hvordan en skal kategorisere de virkemidlene vi hører.

I tillegg kommer oppgaven til å diskutere forskjellig fagterminologi, og argumentere rundt hvorvidt de er relevante for vår analyse, samt diskutere eventuelle nye begrep og fremgangsmåter.

Etter å ha diskutert nettopp fagspråket, fremgangsmåter og andre tilnærminger til temaet, vil vi se hvordan de første spill-sekvensene i Super Mario Galaxy reflekterer det vi har diskutert.

This thesis has as its primary purpose to delve into how to recognise, analyse and describe interaction between music and player within videogames, where it will use Super Mario Galaxy, published by Nintendo in 2007 as its main example on how gamemechanical elements affect the music present within the game, as well as how to categorize the musical elements we hear.

In addition to this, the thesis will also discuss different academical terminology, and argue around whether they are relevant to our analysis, as well as discuss potentially new terms and methods of approach.

After discussing the academical language, methods of approach and other practices concerning the topic, we see how the first game-sequences in Super Mario Galaxy reflect what we have discussed.
