Frivillige organisasjoner som verktøy for integrering av flyktninger i det norske samfunnet

Abstract

De siste årene har antallet nye bosatte flyktninger i Norge økt. Når flyktninger kommer hit, kommer de til et nytt land, kultur, språk og normer. Dette kan være svært utfordrende, spesielt for foreldre som flytter med barn, da de også må møte barnas behov i denne prosessen. Integreringsprosessen kan være vanskelig, men det er i både samfunnets og flyktningenes interesse at de integreres i samfunnet. Staten og kommunene har som oppgave å integrere flyktninger. Samtidig har frivillige organisasjoner hatt en sentral rolle de siste årene når det gjelder integreringsarbeid. Hensikten med denne bacheloroppgaven er å forklare hvordan flyktningfamiliers deltakelse i aktiviteter i regi av frivillige organisasjoner kan ha en positiv effekt på integreringsprosessen. Problemstillingen lyder derfor som følger: Hvordan kan aktiviteter organisert av frivillige organisasjoner legge til rette for integreringsprosessen av flyktningfamilier? Oppgaven er en teoretisk oppgave, som bruker allerede eksisterende litteratur og teori for å belyse temaet. Oppgaven bruker litteratur om integrering og frivillighet, samt teori om sosial kapital for å klargjøre hvordan flyktningfamiliers deltakelse i aktiviteter ledet av frivillige organisasjoner kan lette deres integreringsprosess. Gjennom flyktningfamiliers deltakelse i aktivitetene trenes de i sine norskkunnskaper og blir bedre kjent med det norske samfunnet. Samtidig får de utvidet sitt sosiale nettverk ved å bli bedre kjent med lokalsamfunnet.

In recent years, there has been an increasing number of newly settled refugees in Norway. While arriving refugees are exposed to a new country, culture, language and norms. This can be very challenging, especially for parents fleeing with children, as they also have to meet the children's needs. The integration process can be difficult, however it is in the interest of both the society and the refugees that they are integrated into society. The government and the municipalities have the task of integrating refugees. At the same time, in recent years voluntary organizations have had a central role in integration work. The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to explain how refugee families' participation in activities run by voluntary organizations can have a positive effect on the integration process. Hence, the research question is: How can activities organized by voluntary organizations facilitate the integration process of refugee families? The thesis is a theoretical thesis, which uses already existing literature and theory to shed light on the topic. The thesis contains literature on integration and volunteering, as well as theory on social capital to clarify how refugee families' participation in activities led by voluntary organizations can facilitate their integration process. Through refugee families' participation in the activities, they can practice their Norwegian skills and become better acquainted with Norwegian society. At the same time, they get to expand their social network by getting to know the local community better.
