Norsk ungdom og rus Hvorfor?

Abstract

I denne oppgaven ønsker jeg å belyse temaet norsk ungdom og rusproblemer. Rusproblematikk er noe som påvirker mange livsområder, og kan ha store konsekvenser for livskvaliteten. Dette kan være problemer knyttet til familieliv, jobb, økonomi, og helse. Denne oppgaven fokuserer derfor på hvorfor noen likevel bruker rus, til tross for de negative konsekvensene. Problemstillingen for denne oppgaven er derfor som følger: Hva er sentrale årsaker til rusproblemer blant norsk ungdom i dag? Oppgaven er en litterær oppgave som baserer seg på allerede eksisterende teori og litteratur som er blitt hentet inn gjennom systematiske søk. Teori og funn fra litteratur redegjør for rusproblematikk blant norsk ungdom, samt sentrale risikoårsaker. Diskusjonsdelen viser til at det foreligger uenigheter om hva som kan forklare ungdommers rusbruk. Det pekes på at både gener og miljø har stor betydning, og at det kan være vanskelig å gi et bestemt svar på hva som er mest avgjørende. Det vises til at det er klare sammenhenger mellom foreldres rusbruk og ungdommers rusbruk, og at gener spiller en stor rolle. På den andre siden, argumenteres det for at gener ikke kan bestemme alt, og at miljøet har stor betydning. Det kan derfor være lurt å se det i sammenheng og gjennom helhetsperspektivet og den biopsykososiale modellen. Kunnskap om tematikken kan bidra til bedre hjelp, og redusere stigmaet.

In this thesis, i want to shed light on the topic of norwegian youth and substance abuse. Substance abuse is something that affects many areas of life, and it can have great influence on the quality of life. This can be problems related to family life, work, wealth, and health. This thesis therefore focuses on why someone still chooses to use intoxicating substances, despite the negative consequences. The question in research for this thesis is therefore: What are the central causes for substance abuse among todays norwegian youth? This thesis is a literary thesis that is based on already existing theory and literature that have been obtained through systematic searching. Theory and findings from literature explains substance abuse among norwegian youth, in addition to central risk factors. The discussion part shows that there are disagreements regarding the explanation of youths substance abuse. It is noted that both genetics and the environment have a large impact, but that it can be difficult to determine which is of greater importance. It is indicated that there are clear connections between parental drug use and young people's drug use, and that genetics play a major role. On the other side, it is argued that genetics cannot determine everything, and that the environment is of great importance. It may therefore be wise to see it in context and through a holistic perspective and the biopsychosocial model. Knowledge about the causes of substance abuse among norwegian youth today, can be useful for social workers and other professionals, as well as parents and the youth themselves. Knowledge about the topic can be used to provide better care, and reduce stigma.
