Skjevfordeling av ubetalt omsorgsarbeid og child penalties bør gi statlig kompensasjon: en anvendelse av Okin og Nussbaums rettferdighetstilnærminger

Abstract

Oppgaven skal med utgangspunkt i Okins humanist justice og Nussbaums kapabilitetstilnærming argumentere for at det at kvinner både bærer størstedelen av det ubetalte omsorgsarbeidet for familien og kommer dårligere ut av dette økonomisk på både kort og lang sikt, er inkompatibelt med både Okin og Nussbaums syn på rettferdige samfunn. Med utgangspunkt i begges tilnærminger vil det kunne fastslås at denne skjevfordelingen bør være gjenstand for omfordeling, samt at kompensasjon for dette er noe man kan kreve av en stat. Dagens tiltak er ikke tilstrekkelige for å få bukt med skjevfordelingen oppgaven setter søkelys på, og utvidede politiske løsninger er derfor nødvendig.

This bachelor thesis argues, based on Okin´s Humanist Justice and Nussbaum's Capabilities Approach, that the fact that women take on a disproportionate amount of unpaid caregiving work within the family and experience short and long term economic disadvantages as a result, is incompatible with both Okin´s and Nussbaum's views on just societies. Drawing upon both approaches, it becomes evident that this uneven distribution necessitates redistribution measures and calls for state-backed compensation. Current measures are insufficient to address the imbalance highlighted in this thesis, and expanded political solutions are therefore necessary.
