jobbe skjematisk gjennom hele prosjektet.
for å få ønsket funksjon.
dc.description.abstract | The goal of this project has been to develop a device for spooling of wire rope onto a winch with
the correct ammount of back tension. This is to reduce the risk of the rope burying itself into
underlying layers of rope when the winch is under heavy load. The problem was given by Axess
Technologies AS after a request by one of the group members whom had had a summer internship
there the summer of 2022. Axess Technologies had been considering such a device for a while, that
could help solve this problem, but also be used for different kind of spooling operations.
In addition to design, calculate og model the device, the group has also considered several different
concepts to make sure that the chosen device was the best option. The group has used two different
types of theoretical progress methods for concept develpoment to be able to work systematically.
This has served as a great aid to keep the process orderly and schematically throughout the duration
of the project. The group also had to familiarise themselves with relevant standards as well as learn
how to use these correctly.
The work started with limiting the task and setting a clear goal for the result. This was important
in view of the group beeing able to complete the task whitin the given timeframe. Furthermore,
problem definition was emphasized in order to really understand the scope of the problem and to be
able to set clear frameworks and criteria for what the group was supposed to produce. This phase
transitioned into a concept development phase where the relevant concepts were designed using
the criteria set during the phase of problem definition. The most suitable concept was selected for
further development and has been calculated and modelled.
Of all the components of the device, the design of the drum, frame and drive train was emphasised
the most. During the testing and development of this work, the group discovered conditions with
the original concept that forced changes in the initial design. In short, faults with the spooling
behavior made the concept impossible to realize. After this realization, a new process was initiated
with a focus on keeping as much of the already completed work unchanged. An important aid
and tool in this process was the 3D printing of different drums, which were done to test the new
alternatives in real life.
The final result presents a conceptual design of the device. This device is based on the function
of a capstan winch, only for this device there are two drums used to achieve the desired function.
As part of the device’s functions, it will also be able to be used for different types of wire rope
diameters. A conceptual design means that this solution should work well as a starting point for
further development of the spooling device. Simplifications and assumptions has been made along
the way, these should therefore be explored in any further work.
The group feel certain that the result that has been put forward fulfils the objective that had been
set. The considerations done has been well thought out, and the components of the device are
designed with currents standards in mind. All of the work done, including the functionality and
appearance of the device, will function as the foundation of future development.
