Historieformidling gjennom musikkproduksjon: arbeid med dramaturgiske parametre i popmusikk

Abstract

I dette bachelorprosjektet møtes dramaturgi og musikk for å utforske hvordan man kan forme historiefortellingen i innspilt popmusikk ved hjelp av musikkproduksjon og moderne musikkteknologi. Samspillet mellom musikk, innspilling og sangtekst står i fokus, og gjennom analyse og arbeid med fire utplukkede dramaturgiske parametre, får vi innsikt i hvordan disse kan påvirke historiefortellingen i låten. Prosjektet er en utforskningsoppgave fra et singer/songwriter og produsent-perspektiv, der resultatet er to egenproduserte låter med historier fra eget liv. Forhåpentligvis kan arbeidet være med på å inspirere og belyse hvordan man aktivt kan bruke musikkproduksjon som et verktøy for å forsterke og nyansere sangtekstens historie og visjon.

In this bachelor’s thesis dramaturgy meets music in the exploration of how the music production shapes the storytelling in recorded pop music. The interplay between song lyrics, music and recording creates the main focus. Through analysis and musical work with four dramaturgical parameters in music, we gain insight into how these affect the storytelling in a song. The project takes on a singer/songwriter and producer perspective, and the creative work consists of two self-produced songs with stories from my personal life. The work in this thesis might help inspire and shed light upon how one can actively use music production as a tool to reinforce and nuance the story and vision of the song lyric.
