Verdsettelse av Frontline Ltd.

Abstract

I denne bacheloroppgaven har vi utført en verdsettelse av egenkapitalen til Frontline Ltd. Per 31.03.2023. Gjennom en kombinasjon av en strategisk analyse og en regnskapsmessig analyse har vi undersøkt det volatile markedet Frontline opererer i, samt de mange risikofaktorene som selskapet står overfor. Til tross for disse utfordringene, har vi også identifisert muligheter for Frontline gitt estimerte fremtidsutsikter. Spørsmålet vi har besvart i denne oppgaven er «Hva er verdien av en aksje i Frontline Ltd per 31.03.2023, og hvilke faktorer påvirker verdsettelsen av selskapet?» Frontline har en solid posisjon i shippingsektoren og drar nytte av interne styrker og eksterne muligheter. For å opprettholde suksess, må de fokusere på tilpasning, innovasjon og bærekraft, samtidig som de overvåker ytre trusler som geopolitisk ustabilitet og miljøkrav. Gjennom vår strategiske analyse har vi kartlagt markedssituasjonen, konkurranseforholdene og viktige trender som påvirker selskapets verdsettelse. I tillegg har vi evaluert selskapets interne ressurser og kapabiliteter for å vurdere dets evne til å utnytte muligheter og takle utfordringer For å estimere verdien av Frontline Ltd., har vi sammen med den strategiske og regnskapsmessige analysen benyttet en kontantstrømbasert analyse som resulterte i en aksjekurs på 222,70 NOK. Dette resultatet står dog i kontrast til verdier beregnet ved bruk av multiplikatorer, som viste seg å være vesentlig lavere enn estimert verdi ved fundamental verdsettelse. Vår analyse tyder på at Frontline Ltd. har et potensial for vekst og avkastning for aksjonærer, til tross for utfordringer og usikkerheter i markedet. Det er imidlertid viktig for selskapet å fortsette å håndtere risiko og tilpasse seg endringer i markedet for å opprettholde sin konkurranseposisjon og øke aksjonærverdien.

In this bachelor thesis, we have conducted a valuation of the equity of Frontline Ltd. as of 31.03.2023. Through a combination of strategic analysis and financial statement analysis, we have examined the volatile market Frontline operates in, as well as the many risk factors the company faces. Despite these challenges, we have also identified opportunities for Frontline based on estimated future prospects. The question we have answered in this thesis is "What is the value of a share in Frontline Ltd as of 31.03.2023, and what factors influence the valuation of the company?" Frontline has a strong position in the shipping sector and benefits from internal strengths and external opportunities. To maintain success, they must focus on adaptation, innovation, and sustainability while monitoring external threats such as geopolitical instability and environmental requirements. Through our strategic analysis, we have mapped the market situation, competitive conditions, and key trends affecting the company's valuation. In addition, we have evaluated the company's internal resources and capabilities to assess its ability to exploit opportunities and cope with challenges. To estimate the value of Frontline Ltd., we used a cash flow-based analysis in conjunction with the strategic and financial statement analysis, resulting in a share price of 222.7 NOK. This result, however, contrasts with values calculated using multipliers, which proved to be significantly lower than the estimated value based on fundamental valuation. Our analysis suggests that Frontline Ltd. has the potential for growth and return for shareholders, despite challenges and uncertainties in the market. However, it is important for the company to continue managing risk and adapting to changes in the market to maintain its competitive position and increase shareholder value.
