Tidligere har europeiske energiselskaper prioritert p ̊a hydrokarbonproduksjon, prioriterer
Deretter utføres en sensitivitetsanalyse for ̊a
bestemme hvordan endringer i andre variabler kjent som inngangsvariabler p ̊avirker m ̊alvariabler (Jackup
riggfeil).
Denne
oppgaven undersøker etableringen av et bayesiansk nettverk basert p ̊a historiske ulykkesdata for ̊a visu-
alisere hvilken operasjon p ̊a jekkløfteren som for ̊arsaket ulykken og for ̊a estimere frekvensen av et gitt
scenario kan inntreffe.
dc.description.abstract | Global energy demand will rise in the coming decades due to population growth and increased consump-
tion. At the same time that European countries are increasing their investments in renewable energy, such
as offshore wind, they have proven to be costly, unreliable, and incapable of producing the same amount of
energy as fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal. Previously focused on hydrocarbon production, European
energy companies are now prioritising the development of renewable energy. This has resulted in European
energy companies withdrawing from hydrocarbon projects, which has hampered the development of re-
newable energy and petroleum development in general in countries primarily located in West Africa. While
writing this master’s thesis, the world, particularly Europe, was experiencing energy shortages and sky-high
prices as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war; never before has solid hydrocarbon production been more
important.
West Africa as a region has enormous offshore and onshore oil and gas reserves. Land development has
progressed much faster than sea development, and it is desirable to develop offshore oil and gas operations
in West Africa. Unfortunately, conducting offshore operations in West Africa carries a higher risk then in
other areas.
Bayesian Network (BN) is a probabilistic graphical model that use a directed acyclic graph to represent
a conditional interdependencies via a directed acyclic graph. This can be used to investigate and display
causal relationships between key factors and system outcomes. Following that, a sensitivity analysis is
performed to determine how changes in other variables known as input variables affect target (Jackup rig
failure) variables.
There has been activity offshore in West Africa for the past 45 years, particularly with the use of jackup rigs.
This thesis examines the creation of a Bayesian network based on historical accident data to visualise which
operation on the jackup caused the accident and to estimate the frequency of such an accident occurring.
