Det kompliserte samarbeidet? Miljøterapeuters erfaringer om samarbeid med barneverntjenesten

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven handler om miljøterapeuter tilknyttet akutte omsorgsinstitusjoner sine erfaringer og opplevelser om deres samarbeid med barneverntjenesten. De har et felles ansvar knyttet til omsorgssituasjon og utviklingsstøtte til ungdommene som har et behov for institusjonsopphold.

Masteroppgaven baseres på et empirisk materiale innhentet gjennom kvalitativ metode, i form av semistrukturerte intervju av ti informanter ulike steder i Norge. Miljøterapeutene som er mine informanter, har delt av sine opplevelser og erfaringer fra yrkeslivet som ligger til grunn for min analyse og tolkning. Vitenskapsperspektivet inspireres av en fenomenologisk hermeneutisk tilnærming av miljøterapeutenes opplevelsesverden, samtidig med tolkning og meningsskaping. Formålet er å fremheve kunnskap fra miljøterapeuters opplevelser i samarbeid med barneverntjenesten.

Mine fire hovedfunn i masteroppgaven er barnevernfaglige vurderinger, ulikhet, systemutfordringer og samarbeid. Hovedfunnet knyttet til barnevernfaglige vurderinger omhandler blant annet forståelse, tolkning og tilnærming. Hovedfunnet knyttet til ulikhet omhandler variasjonene blant barnevernskonsulentene som miljøterapeutene samarbeider med. Hovedfunnet knyttet til systemutfordringer belyser miljøterapeutenes erfaringer for hvordan barnevernssystemet i Norge fungerer i henhold til samarbeid. Hovedfunnet knyttet til samarbeid viser miljøterapeuters betraktninger og opplevelser for hva de anser som godt samarbeid og deres beskrivelser av utfordringer.

De siste årene har det vært et økende fokus på akuttflytting av barn og unge. Fortsatt er det behov for å forske på de ulike delene av barneverntjenestens arbeidsmåter, organisering og praksis. Derimot også på det tverrfaglige samarbeidet for å finne gode løsninger for barns omsorgssituasjon.

This master’s thesis is about social educators associated with an acute care institution’s experiences and experiences about their collaboration with the child welfare service. They have a common responsibility related to the care situation and development support for the young people who need institutional care.

The master’s thesis is based on empirical material obtained through a qualitative method, in the form of semi-structured interviews with ten informants stationed in different places in Norway. The social educators who are my informants have shared their experiences from their work that form the basis for my analysis and interpretation. The scientific perspective is inspired by a phenomenological hermeneutic approach to the social educator’s world of experience, at the same time as interpretation and making a meaning. My four main findings in the master’s thesis are professional assessments, inequality, challenges in the child welfare system and collaboration, The finding child welfare professional assessments deal mainly with understanding and approach. The main difference found in the variations among the child welfare consultants with whom the social educators collaborate. The finding of challenges in the child welfare system sheds a light on social educator’s experiences, of how the child welfare system In Norway works. The finding of collaboration shows social educator’s considerations and their experiences for what they consider to be good collaboration, and their descriptions of challenges.

The recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the emergency relocation of children and young people. There is still a need for research on the various parts of the child welfare service’s working methods, organization and practice. On the other hand, also on the interdisciplinary collaboration to find good solutions for children’s care situation.
