Vetesystemet i middelalderen

Abstract

Oppgaven tar utgangspunkt i vetesystemet som varslingsmetode i middelalderen, da spesifisert til fra år 945 til år 1066. Det sentrale spørsmålet i oppgaven er; Var vetesystemet Norges viktigste varslingsmetode i middelalderen? For å forklare dette systemet er det en rekke forhold som er undersøkt. Disse er innføringen av systemet, hvilken rolle det spilte som en del av leidangen, og plassering og organisering. Samtidig spørsmålet om hvem vetene varslet om sentrale for å kunne forklare viktigheten av systemet. For å diskutere det sentrale spørsmålet, blir også mulige utfordringer ved vetesystemet og andre mulige varslingssystem belyst. Det er en viss trøndersk forankring i oppgaven, hvilket vil komme til syne gjennom eksempler i både lokalisering og kamper.

The thesis is based on the beacon system as a warning method in the Middle Ages, then specified to from the year 945 to the year 1066. The central question in the thesis is; Was the beacon system Norway's most important warning method in the Middle Ages? To explain this system, several factors have been investigated. These are the introduction of the system, the role it played as part of the lead, and its location and organization. At the same time the question of who the beacons warned about central to explain the importance of the system. To discuss the central question, possible challenges to the beacon system and other possible warning systems are also highlighted. There will be some local history in the thesis, which will be seen through examples in both location and matches.
