Resultat: Studiene belyser ulike barrierer for kommunikasjon.
Backround: WHO has since 1974 emphasized sexual health as an impontant theme for healthcare professionals. The Norwegian Health departement has done the same, with an strategy for sexual health for the period 2017 to 2022. Their goal is that every healthcare proffesional shall ingage a converastion with patients about sexuality. It is to take care of patients’ sexual health. Purpose: This study highlights sexual health care. The purpose with this study is researching how nurses communicate with inpatients about sexual health and sexuality. Method: Literature study as a method, based on eight research articles. Result: This study highlights different barriers for communication. Those barriers that repeats themselves the most is, (1) lack of knowledge, (2) lack of communication-skills, (3) attitudes and (4) organizationalpolicy. These studies emphasized these barriers to a differt degree, but in every study it shows a lack of communication from nurses. At the same time there is nurses who communicate about sexuality. The most repeated reason for the difference between thos who do, and do not, is counseling training. Conclusion: Nurses need knowledge, competance and communication-skills to ingage conversation. The studies from the last ten years show that there is a lack of conversations about sexuality. The most common attitude that is a reason for lack of ingaging a conversation, is ageism and fear of emberass them. That is why there is a need for increased awerness of patients thoughts and feelings about sexuality. In addition to this, there is a need for interventions that change the organizationalpolicy and routines whitin different wards, in that way the offer for conversation will be equal for every patient.
