Nøkkelord: Motivasjon, terapeutisk allianse, terapeutisk relasjon, autonomi Background:Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is a serious disease that is difficult to treat. The disease is characterized by a long course of treatment and difficulties to relating to others. The relationship between a nurse and patient can be problematic as a result. Building a relationship often takes time, and can sometimes be demotivating for both the patient and the nurse. Based on this, I have chosen the research question; "How can nurses work to create a therapeutic alliance and motivate patients with Anorexia Nervosa?"
Method:One literature study based on systematic literature searches, where 7 articles were considered relevant to the thesis problem. The analysis was made based on Evans' (2002) analysis model.
Result:Patients with AN have difficulty developing a relationship with other people. The first meeting turned out to have a lot to say for further treatment. Respect for the patient's autonomy must be maintained to improve the patient's motivation and a therapeutic alliance with the nurse gave the patients more motivation to recover.
Conclusion:Nurses are in an ideal position to help patients with AN. Time and relationship building are necessary to motivate patients to recover. Nurses face several challenges and can be demotivating for them and their patients. In selected literature and research, it is discussed how this can be overcome and how a therapeutic alliance and motivation can be created in patients with AN.
