Temaet jeg ønsker å belyse i min bacheloroppgave er barnevernets arbeid i møte med etniske minoritetsfamilier. Hvordan er det barneverntjenestene forstår de kulturelle utfordringene i flerkulturelle familier og hvordan kan man få en bedre forståelse for de ulike kulturene. Det vil i oppgaven bli lagt opp til teorier som kulturforståelse og kulturkompetanse for å gi et grunnlag for denne forståelsen og behovet rundt flerkulturelle familier. Jeg vil da i denne oppgaven legge frem hvorfor det er viktig at barnevernsarbeiderne har en balanse mellom et etnosentrisk og relativistisk kulturforståelse for å oppnå en god forståelse av flerkulturelle familier. Etniske minoritetsfamilier opplever ofte utfordringer knyttet til barnevernet og ofte er det sakene omfattende og komplekse med flere dilemmaer knyttet opp til forholdet mellom dem. Jeg argumenterer for at det er store forbedringspotensial i arbeidet mellom flerkulturelle familier og barnevernet og ser på hvordan vi kan skape bedre tillit til flerkulturelle familier. Jeg har avgrenset oppgaven og vil ha fokus på hvordan det er barneverntjenestene forstår de ulike kulturene og videre knytte det opp i mot arbeidet deres inn mot etnisk minoritetsfamilier. Videre har jeg drøftet hvordan det er denne forståelsen av kultur i ulike samfunn vil gi barnevernet en forståelse for kulturens rammer for barneoppdragelse. Metoden som er brukt i denne bacheloren er litteraturstudie og jeg har funnet relevant teori og forskning for å presentere sentrale temaer og aspekter ved problemstillingen. Jeg har i denne oppgaven tatt opp viktige temaer i forhold til hvordan man kan møte flerkulturelle familier, og sett på hvordan barnevernsarbeiderne kan legge til rette for flerkulturelle familier som har et ekstra behov i møte med det norske barnevernet.

Summary :

The theme i want to highlight in my bachelor thesis is the child welfare service's work in meetings with ethnic minority families. How are the child welfare services understand the cultural challenges in multicultural families and how can one get a better understanding of the different cultures. The thesis will focus on theories such as cultural understanding and cultural competence to provide a basis for this understanding and the need for multicultural families. In this thesis, I will then present why it is important for child welfare workers to have a balance between an ethnocentric and relativistic cultural understanding in order to achieve a good understanding of multicultural families. Ethnic minority families often experience challenges related to child welfare and often the issues are extensive and complex, with several dilemmas related to the relationship between them. I argue that there is great potential for improvement in the work between multicultural families and child welfare and look at how it is we can create better trust from multicultural families. I have limited the task and want to focus on how it is the child welfare services understand the different cultures and further link it to their work towards ethnic minority families. Furthermore, I have discussed how it is this understanding of culture in different societies will give the child welfare service an understanding of the culture's framework for child rearing. The method used in this bachelor's is literature study and I have found relevant theory and research to present key themes and aspects of the problem. In this thesis, I have addressed important topics in relation to how to meet multicultural families, and tried to present how it is the child welfare workers can facilitate multicultural families who have an extra need in meeting the Norwegian child welfare.
